Hello me again. I put the cart in reverse and the screen did not come on (reverse camera) I put it neutral and tried reverse ..
Now, the cart goes forward and back, but no screen lights, horn etc.
Hi Rich, Welcome back! It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue with the electronics system. The fact that the reverse camera screen is not turning on when shifting into reverse, and that other electronics like the horn are also not functioning, points to a potential wiring or electrical problem. Check the connections to ensure everything is securely plugged in. Sometimes a simple loose wire can cause these kinds of problems. If everything seems connected properly, inspect the fuses to see if any have blown and need replacement. If the issue persists after these steps, we advise having a qualified golf cart technician take a look at it. Let us know how it goes!
having an issue with golf cart going fine and when you stop it does not go. have to then shut off the cart and restart and it will be fine . been going o. for months now.
Hi David, It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating intermittent issue on your golf cart. This kind of problem where the cart runs fine, then stops responding until you restart it, often points to an electrical issue rather than a mechanical one. There are a few potential culprits to consider. It could be a problem with the solenoid, which acts as a switch for the motor. If it’s faulty, it might not engage properly after stopping. Loose wiring connections are another possibility, as vibrations during use can loosen them over time. Battery issues could also be at play, with weak or failing batteries not providing consistent power. Lastly, there’s a chance the electronic speed controller might be glitching.
To start troubleshooting, you might want to check all the wiring connections and tighten them if necessary. It’s also worth inspecting the batteries – clean the terminals and check water levels if applicable. When you press the accelerator, listen for a “click” sound. If you don’t hear it, that could indicate a problem with the solenoid. If you’re comfortable using a multimeter, testing voltage at key points could provide useful information. However, if you’re not familiar with electrical systems, it’s probably best to have a professional take a look. Let us know if we can help you any more!
when charging the blue AC light came on, on my charger. what does this mean, I just got 6 new trojan batteries.
Hi Barbarba,
The blue AC light on your charger typically indicates that the charger is connected to AC power and is ready to charge. However, since you’ve just installed new Trojan batteries, there are a few things to consider:
1. Ensure proper connection: Check that the charger is correctly connected to the batteries and that all connections are secure.
2. Allow settling time: New batteries may need some time to settle after installation. Try leaving the charger connected for a while to see if it begins charging normally.
3. Verify charger settings: Make sure your charger is set to the correct algorithm for Trojan batteries. For a 48-volt Trojan battery pack, a finish charge of 64.8 volts is recommended.
4. Check individual battery voltages: If the charger doesn’t start charging, you may need to check the voltage of each battery individually. If any are too low, they might require a separate trickle charge to bring them up to a level where the main charger can take over.
5. Consult the manual: Refer to your charger’s user manual for specific information on LED indicators and troubleshooting steps.
If the issue persists, it’s best to contact the manufacturer of your charger or a golf cart service professional for further assistance, as they can provide more specific guidance based on your particular charger model and battery configuration.
my evolution classic makes loud noise in steering and lots of play. Dealer claims it is fine. what are the problems?
Hi Robert, The loud noise and excessive play in your Evolution Classic’s steering shouldn’t be dismissed. These symptoms often indicate worn components like tie rods, ball joints, or the steering box. While some play is normal, significant looseness can affect handling and safety. We suggest getting a second opinion from another golf cart mechanic. They can properly inspect and identify the issue. For safety, consider limiting your cart use until it’s evaluated and repaired if needed.
Hello. I have an evolution cart that has the gas motor in it. Do you know how much horsepower it has or what are the best spark plugs for it?
Hi there! Gas-powered golf cart spark plugs typically need changing every 100-200 hours of use or annually, whichever comes first. Using the wrong type can affect performance and fuel efficiency. For the exact horsepower and best spark plugs for your specific model, we recommend contacting Evolution Golf Carts directly. They have the expertise to give you the most accurate information for your cart.
my battery charges to 100 and then depletes rapidly.
Hi Rosalia, Based on your description, it sounds like your battery is experiencing rapid discharge after being fully charged. This can be frustrating, but there are a few potential causes and solutions to consider:
Here are a few possible causes and solutions:
Battery Age: Older batteries can lose their ability to hold a charge effectively. If your battery is several years old, it might be time for a replacement.
Battery Condition: Check for any signs of damage or corrosion on the battery terminals. Clean any corrosion and ensure all connections are secure.
Cell Issues: If one or more cells in the battery are failing, it can lead to rapid discharge. A load test can help identify if this is the case.
Overcharging: If your charger is malfunctioning, it may be overcharging the battery, leading to reduced lifespan and performance. Ensure your charger is compatible with your battery type.
Usage Patterns: Consider how you’re using the golf cart. Frequent stops and starts or driving on inclines can drain the battery faster.
Temperature Effects: Extreme temperatures can affect battery performance. Make sure the battery is stored and used within recommended temperature ranges.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it may be best to consult a professional for further diagnosis as the battery may need to be replaced.
I purchased a new cart but the radio will not bring in any radio stations. The dealer supplied a new antenna, after finding the antenna jack under the dash I plugged it in and upon driving I started to smell melting plastic. immediately I shut off the power and found the antenna connection melted. I tried another antenna and it immediately became hot. Do you have a fix for getting the FM radio to work better?
The melting and overheating you’re describing indicates a dangerous electrical problem that could cause a fire. This is definitely not normal and requires immediate attention. Take the cart back to your dealer right away – since it’s new, this should be covered under warranty. Don’t use the radio system until a certified technician can inspect the wiring and identify the electrical fault.
Stay safe, and let us know what the dealer finds!
Dealer and I have been trying but they don’t know what to do.

my problem is that after i washed the golf cart for the 1st time (dealer didnt warn me about not doing that) i had to reset the manual brake switch to make the cart come on again. But although the sound is working, the soundbar lights and the lights on the front speakers undernearth the front seat are out. Cant figure out how to get them back on. Nothing i’ve found works. Was hoping it was a fuse. Any ideas? It is a 2025 EVolution D5 Ranger 2+2
Hello, My 2023 evolution forester 6 plus went from 30 % on battery to 0 within seconds and got stuck in the middle of the road. Has anyone had this issue if so what’s the problem or how do I fix it. It’s practically brand new but scare to go under 50% now and get stuck again.
Dear Jorge, It must be incredibly frustrating to have your cart suddenly lose power like that. The issue you’re describing where the battery went from 30% to 0% within seconds is likely due to a problem with the battery or the battery management system (BMS). Of course, we can’t diagnose the issue without inspecting the cart, but here are a few suggestions to try to see if they help.
1. Check the Battery Connections: Ensure that all battery connections are secure and free of corrosion. Loose or dirty connections can sometimes cause sudden power drops.
2. Battery Health: Even if the cart is new, it’s worth having the battery checked for any defects. A faulty cell in the battery pack can lead to rapid discharge.
3. Software Update: Check if there’s a spftware update available for your golf cart. Manufacturers sometimes release updates that address such issues.
If the above steps don’t help, we suggest contacting the manufacturer or an authorized service center immediately. They can diagnose the issue accurately and provide a solution, which may involve replacing the battery pack or other components. Wishing you great luck!
Yes, just bought my 2024. Used very little. I have the new 2024 lithium 48v battery. I called and said it needs to be flashed. I have to take it to a dealership. I hope I don’t have a lot of issues from here. I will want my simple EZGO back with no issues at all.
David
I recently had my battery go from 42% to 0 within seconds. Cart is nearly 4 years old and just had it serviced a few months ago. Now I feel like it is draining faster than normal and also afraid of going under 45% battery. I don’t golf, mostly driving around the community. Before I used to be able to drive around at least 4-5 days before charging, now charging every other day. Thinking I may need a new battery sooner than later, but monitoring it for now.
Hi Dawn,
Based on your description, you’re definitely experiencing some battery issues that are common with older golf carts.
What you’re describing—the sudden drop from 42% to 0%, faster drainage, and needing to charge every other day instead of every 4-5 days—strongly suggests battery degradation. This is normal for a cart that’s nearly 4 years old, especially if the original batteries are still in use.
Here are some possible explanations and suggestions:
1. Battery age: Most golf cart batteries last 4-6 years with proper maintenance, so you’re approaching the typical replacement timeframe.
2. Cell failure: One or more cells in your battery pack may have failed, causing the sudden voltage drops and reduced capacity.
3. Charging habits: Sometimes partial charging or letting batteries sit at low charge can reduce their lifespan.
For now, while you’re monitoring:
– Try to keep the battery above 50% charge
– Fully charge after each use
– Check water levels if you have lead-acid batteries
– Consider having a load test performed to evaluate battery health
If the issues persist or worsen, replacement is likely your best option. When you do replace, consider upgrading to lithium batteries as they typically last longer and provide more consistent performance. If you decide to upgrade, please contact us at (937) 459-8891, as we can help you with your purchase.
Good luck!
I just bought a new 2025 Evolution Forester. My wife put indicator on reverse(the back up camera came on) but the cart went forward. She had been driving it around the campground and was parking it. This could be dangerous.
Hi Paul,
Thank you for sharing your experience with your new 2025 Evolution Forester golf cart. The issue you’ve described with the cart moving forward when in reverse is definitely concerning and could pose a safety risk.
While we don’t sell or service Evolution golf carts at our company, I’d strongly recommend contacting your Evolution dealer or the manufacturer directly about this problem. This sounds like it could be a serious mechanical or electrical issue that requires immediate professional attention.
For safety, we suggest not using the cart until it can be inspected by an authorized Evolution technician. If you need help locating your nearest Evolution service center, you can find their contact information on the Evolution Golf Carts website or in your owner’s manual.
We appreciate you bringing this to the attention of our readers, as safety concerns are relevant to all golf cart owners regardless of brand.
On a one year old evolution the blue tooth stopped working and the speedometer stopped .Not having any luck with the dealer that we bought it fro
Hi Hal, It’s frustrating when technology doesn’t work as expected, especially on newer equipment. Here are a few steps that might help:
Bluetooth Issue: Sometimes, simply resetting the Bluetooth connection can resolve the issue. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device to the golf cart’s system. If that doesn’t work, it may be worth consulting the user manual for troubleshooting tips or trying a software update.
Speedometer Problem: The speedometer could have a wiring or sensor problem. Checking the connections and ensuring everything is tightly secured might help. For more complex issues, it’s advisable to consult a professional technician with experience with Evolution golf carts.
Dealer Assistance: Since you’re not getting the support you need from your original dealer, have you considered contacting Evolution directly? They might offer additional support or direct you to a more responsive dealer in your area.
Hope this helps and you can get your cart back in top shape soon!

Brand new classic 2 and the radio and lights go off when you tap the brakes what is going on?!
Hello Dylan, The issue you’re experiencing – radio and lights turning off when braking – suggests an electrical problem in your new Evolution Classic 2. This could be due to a weak battery, faulty connections, or issues with the voltage regulator or wiring. As your cart is new, this should be covered under warranty. Please be cautious when driving until it’s fixed, as this could affect your safety on the course.
I’m hearing a thumping sound when accelerating and deaccelerating.
Hello Ron, Thanks for reaching out about the thumping sound you’re hearing. This issue could stem from a few different sources, but it’s definitely worth investigating. Here are some possible causes:
1. CV joints: If they’re worn, they can cause thumping during acceleration or deceleration.
2. Wheel bearings: Damaged bearings might produce this sound.
3. Tires: Uneven wear or a separation in the tire could be the culprit.
4. Suspension components: Worn shocks or struts might create this noise.
5. Drive belt: A loose or worn belt could cause thumping.
For safety and to prevent further damage, we recommend having your golf cart inspected by a qualified technician. They can pinpoint the exact cause and suggest the appropriate repairs.
If you’d like to bring your cart in for a check-up, we’d be happy to take a look. Regular maintenance can often prevent these issues from developing. Do you have any other questions about your cart’s performance?
Brand new Evolution
Pulling in garage, slept on brake, cart sped forward with forceful speed. Thought perhaps I had accidentally stepped on the accelerator. Again yesterday, coming into a parking spot, it sped up quickly when I stepped on the brake. It went over the curb, over short shrubs and came to a stop. Could’ve been very dangerous! Tested it again while driving down the street and it’s doing it intermittently not all the time. Parked it now I have ERROR 085 displaying and it won’t move forward or reverse. Dealer coming for it but has anyone else experienced this?
Hi Patti, The unexpected acceleration and brake problems you describe are concerning. It’s good you’ve contacted your dealer – having them inspect it is the right move, especially with the ERROR 085 code. Hope the dealer resolves this quickly so you can enjoy your cart worry-free.
I am also having the same exact problem. My cart is at the dealer today to have it fixed. I will keep you posted on the findings.
Hi, we have a 2024 Evolution D5 Ranger 2+2 purchased new in March of 2024. Occasionally, after turning off the cart it will not turn back on. This has happened 3 times of late while out on it. I discovered that if I connect the charging cord to it, and charge it for a few minutes, it will turn on. The battery was above 90% these times
Happened today, 07-23-24, and fortunately a man let me use his extension and power outlet to charge it for 5 minutes, then it turned on. I had left in on, in neutral, to hopefully avoid the issue, but it had shut itself off. Does it have an automatic shut-off after a period of no activity?
Other wise it is a great cart.
Thank you,
John Ivey
Wetumpka, AL
Hi John, The issue you’re describing could be related to a few different factors: 1. There may be a loose connection in the electrical system.
2. The battery management system might be malfunctioning. 3.Yes, many golf carts have an automatic shut-off feature to conserve battery life.
We recommend bringing your cart to an authorized service center for a diagnostic check. They can properly assess the electrical system and battery to resolve the intermittent starting issue. Good luck!
Our Forester golf cart seems stuck in park. It turns on and is charged to 94%, but will not move in any gear. It cannot be pushed either. We checked for a mechanical break on the driver’s side, but it doesn’t appear to have one. Any ideas?
Hi Christina, It sounds like your Forester golf cart may have an engaged parking brake or a faulty brake switch. Check for a parking brake lever or pedal and ensure it’s fully released. If that’s not the issue, there could be a problem with the motor controller or solenoid. We recommend inspecting the wiring connections and fuses. If these basic checks don’t resolve the problem, it’s best to consult with a Forester technician or authorized service center for a thorough diagnosis and repair. Good luck!
I have an Evolution 2022 forester 4 I just purchased suspension is so stiff my wife doesn’t like riding in it. What can I do?
Hi Steve,
Congratulations on the new Forester 4! You’re right that Evolution carts can ride a bit firm from the factory.
Here are a few things you can try:
Check your tire pressure first: This is the easiest fix. If the tires are over-inflated, dropping them down a few PSI can make a noticeable difference in ride comfort without affecting performance.
Upgrade the shocks: Aftermarket heavy-duty shocks designed for golf carts can soften the ride considerably. Look for adjustable options so you can dial in the comfort level.
Add rear seat cushions: If your wife typically rides in the back, a quality cushion or padded seat cover can absorb a lot of that vibration and make a big difference on rougher terrain.
Consider a leaf spring upgrade: Some owners swap to softer or progressive leaf springs for a smoother ride, though this is more involved than the other options.
Start with the tire pressure since it costs nothing and takes five minutes. If that doesn’t do enough, shocks would be the next step.
Hope that helps. Let us know how it goes!
I bought a 2024 D5 Maverick.
Really disappointed….Very hard rough ride…Embarrassed to ride anyone in it.
Dealer put 2 adjustable shocks on it…Really helped but cost me $250 on new cart.
300 miles on it now and both front tires are worn completely slick..I mean completely.
Dealer wants to put new tires likes on D5 Ranger…$650…I want Evolution to fix my problems…Not me paying…Remember only 300 miles.
Hi Danny, Thank you for sharing your experience with the Evolution D5 Maverick. As a dealer specializing in E-Z-GO golf carts, we can’t directly address issues with Evolution models. However, we understand how frustrating it can be to encounter problems with a new vehicle purchase.
For other readers considering a golf cart purchase, we recommend:
1. Thoroughly test-driving any cart before buying
2. Discussing warranty coverage and after-sale support with the seller
3. Researching common issues for specific models
We hope you resolve the issues with your Evolution cart soon. Good luck!
2024 Classic 4 plus.
There is a clicking sound (not the growler, it is unhooked) coming from the rear of the cart at slow speeds or deceleration. It increases in tempo as you speed up and then the sound disappears. Starts “clicking” again as you let off throttle.
Hi Rick, The clicking sound you’re experiencing during slow speeds and deceleration, which increases with speed and disappears at higher velocities, could indicate several potential issues. Common causes might include loose components in the drivetrain, worn bearings, or problems with the differential. For an accurate diagnosis and resolution, we recommend having your cart inspected by a qualified technician. They can pinpoint the source of the noise and suggest appropriate repairs to ensure your cart’s optimal performance and longevity. Let us know if we can be of futher help. Good luck!
Our Evolution golf cart front tires are rubbing on the front fender and making the paint come off.
Hi Kim, Golf cart front tires rubbing on the front fender is common issue, especially when modifications have been made or larger tires installed.
Here are a few suggestions:
1. Check Tire Size: Ensure your tires are the correct size for your cart.
2. Inspect Suspension: A worn or misaligned suspension could be causing the rubbing.
3. Consider Modifications: Installing a lift kit or adjusting the fenders may provide the necessary clearance.
For the best results, we recommend consulting a qualified mechanic or the Evolution manufacturer. They can offer tailored advice for your specific situation. Hope this helps!
hi I own a 2023 HDK d5 ranger 4 I was driving it then I hear a very loud noise. after that the cart won’t work, wen I started it will move 3ft. and won’t move
Hello John! We’re sorry you’re having golf cart problems. The symptoms you describe sounds like a potential drivetrain or electrical issue. For safety reasons, we recommend not operating the cart further and contacting your local HDK dealer or a certified golf cart technician for a professional diagnosis and repair. They’ll be best equipped to identify and resolve the problem hopefully soon so you can get back on the road!
I have a 2022 evolution D3 cart. The key fob will not unlock the front storage compartment. I tried replacing the fob battery still nothing. Any ideas?
The cart is new to me have never been able to open it.
Hello Dave, Not being able to open your golf cart’s front storage compartment must be very frustrating. Here are some ideas that might help:
1. Key fob reprogramming: The fob may need to be reprogrammed to sync with your cart.Check your owner’s manual for the reprogramming procedure, which often involves a specific sequence of turning the key and pressing fob buttons.
2. Mechanical lock check: Ensure the mechanical lock itself isn’t stuck or damaged.Try manually unlocking with the physical key if your model has this option.
3. Receiver issue:The problem could be with the cart’s receiver, not the fob. Look for any visible damage or loose connections near the receiver unit.
4. Fuse check: A blown fuse could prevent the electronic locking system from functioning. Locate and inspect the fuse related to the locking system.
5. Battery connections: Weak or corroded battery connections on the cart itself can affect electronic systems. Inspect and clean the main battery terminals if necessary.
6. Professional diagnosis: If none of these steps work, the issue might require professional diagnosis. Consider contacting an authorized Evolution Golf Cart dealer or service center.
Good luck!
The lowest setting on the radio is still too loud. Is there something I can do to lower the volume?
Hi Jerry, Here are some ideas to try to adjust your Evolution’s radio volume. But before proceeding, we suggest you consult your owner’s manual or contact Evolution Golf Carts support to ensure you don’t void your warranty.
1. Check for a hidden volume control: Some models have an additional volume adjustment behind the faceplate.
2. Install an inline volume control: This can be added to the speaker wires for finer adjustment.
3. Replace the radio: Consider installing an aftermarket radio with a wider volume range.
4. Adjust speaker wiring: Rewiring speakers in series instead of parallel can reduce overall volume.
Hope this helps!
My evolution d5 brakes squeel loudly on occasion when driving it can be at any speed. It has
disk brakes. it has been driven only 45 miles.
Hi Allen, Occasional brake squealing can be normal, especially in new vehicles. It could be due to moisture, dust, or the brake pads settling in. Try firmly applying the brakes a few times in a safe area to see if it helps. If the problem continues, it’s best to have a qualified technician check it out. Since your cart only has 45 miles, the issue might be covered under warranty. Good luck!
My new D5 Maverick makes a small clicking sound when I’m first going in reverse, or when I start to take off.
Is that normal.
Hello Sid, When going in reverse or starting, the clicking sound your new D5 Maverick makes can indicate a few issues.
1. Electrical Issues: The clicking could be related to the solenoid, which engages the motor. If the solenoid malfunctions or there’s insufficient voltage, it may click without effectively engaging the motor, especially when starting or reversing.
2. Loose Connections: Check for loose or corroded wiring connections. These can lead to intermittent power delivery, causing clicking sounds as the electrical flow is disrupted.
3. Mechanical Problems: The noise might also stem from mechanical components such as bearings or brakes. If the noise persists or worsens, it could indicate wear or damage that needs to be addressed.
4. Battery Health: Ensure your batteries are fully charged and in good condition. Weak or failing batteries can cause performance issues and unusual sounds.
If the clicking sound continues or you’re concerned about it, it’s best to consult a qualified technician who can inspect the cart more thoroughly. Regular maintenance and prompt attention to unusual noises can help prevent more significant issues. Let us know how it goes!
Hello. I have a Carrier 6 Plus with the 72V lithium battery pack. Been running fine but this morning, started doing weird stuff-
The battery indicator gauge stays on, even with key off and removed
When turning key on, nothing happens, but battery gauge stays illuminated
If I press and hold the reset button on the battery pack, after about ten seconds, I hear a click, the battery gauge goes out. I can now turn the key and all seems normal, it will move, but this only lasts about five seconds, then everything dies again but the battery gauge stays illuminated. I did this a half dozen times, does exact same thing each time.
Battery shows 92% charge at this time.
Waiting on a call back from the dealer, but I’m fairly mechanically inclined… Any ideas?!
Thanks!
Eric
Hi Eric, It sounds like you’re experiencing an electrical issue with your Evolution Carrier 6 Plus golf cart. One possibility is a malfunction in the Battery Management System (BMS), which could explain the persistent battery gauge illumination and intermittent power. Another area to check is for loose or corroded connections, as these can disrupt the electrical flow. Also, the key switch itself may not be properly cutting power when turned off.
Start by inspecting all battery connections for tightness and signs of corrosion. Check the voltage of each battery cell to ensure they’re balanced. You can also try disconnecting and reconnecting the main battery pack to reset the system. Lastly, examine the key switch for any visible damage or loose wires. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s best to wait for your dealer’s response, as the problem may require specialized diagnostic equipment or knowledge specific to Evolution golf carts. Avoid extensive DIY repairs, as this could potentially void your warranty or cause further damage. Hope this helps and good luck!
I have about a year old lithium battery powered cart from you guys. It has run great and no issues except for the roof cracking and I have replaced it. But now I’m showing a 99% charge and when I takeoff it will go about 10 feet and then power down to a slow roll. It seems to be some type of loss of power. Is this a transmission module issue since the battery still shows 99%. please help.
Hi Keith, First of all, thank you for purchasing your lithium battery powered golf cart from us. We appreciate you as a customer and sorry you are having issues.
It sounds like your issue may be related to the Battery Management System (BMS) or the motor controller rather than the battery itself. Without having inspected it ourselves, here are some possible issues:
1. The BMS might be cutting power to protect the battery, possibly due to an over-current condition or a weak cell.
2. The motor controller could be malfunctioning and limiting power output.
Try these troubleshooting steps:
1. Reset the BMS: Fully charge the battery, then disconnect and reconnect it.
2. Check Connections: Inspect all battery and motor connections for tightness and corrosion.
3. Test Voltage Under Load: Use a multimeter to check battery voltage while accelerating.
4. Verify Charger Function: Ensure your charger is working properly.
5. Inspect Controller: Look for any signs of damage or overheating.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s best to consult a professional for further diagnosis. The sudden power loss is likely a safety feature to prevent damage. Give us a call at (937) 459-8891 so we can discuss further.
I have a 2022 forester 4 plus, my screen went out the other day to where it reset my mileage back to 00000 and my blue tooth and radio would not play. after no luck determining what it could be i noticed a small hole next to the top that actually resets the unit. every time i turn the key off and turn back on i have to reset it every time. any suggestions and how much of a warranty are on the units?
Hi Wade, It sounds like you’re dealing with an ongoing issue where the display resets each time your 2022 Forester 4 Plus is restarted, which could be related to a power or software issue.
Here are a few things you might want to try:
1. Check the Battery Connection: Sometimes, loose or faulty connections to the battery can cause issues with the display and other electronics. Ensure the battery terminals are clean and properly connected.
2. Firmware/Software Update: It’s possible that the system might need a software update. Check with the manufacturer or dealer to see if there is an update available for your unit.
3. Inspect the Reset Button: Since you mentioned a reset button, it’s worth checking if it’s functioning properly or if it might be sticking, causing unintended resets.
Regarding your warranty, the length can vary depending on the dealer or manufacturer. Typically, warranties for golf cart electronics range from 1 to 3 years, but it’s best to refer to your owner’s manual or contact the dealer where you purchased the cart for the exact details.
If the issue persists, reaching out to customer support for the manufacturer or dealer is probably the next best step. They can provide specific troubleshooting tips or arrange a service if needed. Good luck! And let us know how it goes.
Have a 2024 D5 lithium cart. Just finished charging and went for a ride when the charging engine started to make a noise like loud radio static. Only does it in drive not reverse. Any ideas what happened.
Hello Colleen, Thank you for describing the issue with your 2024 D5 lithium cart. The static-like noise in drive mode could indicate a problem with the motor controller or regenerative braking system. Since it only occurs in forward motion, the issue is likely related to the speed controller’s power modulation rather than the motor itself.
We recommend to first completely power cycle the cart (turn off, wait 30 seconds, turn on). If the noise persists, have a certified technician check the motor controller connections and programming.
To prevent potential damage, avoid using the cart until it can be inspected by a professional. This could be a minor software glitch or a sign of component wear that needs addressing. Good luck!
my problem is that after i washed the golf cart for the 1st time (dealer didnt warn me about not doing that) i had to reset the manual brake switch to make the cart come on again. But although the sound is working, the soundbar lights and the lights on the front speakers undernearth the front seat are out. Cant figure out how to get them back on. Nothing i’ve found works. Was hoping it was a fuse. Any ideas?
Hi there! Thanks for reaching out about your golf cart’s lighting issue after washing it. It’s frustrating when something like this happens, especially after just the first wash. While we can’t provide definitive troubleshooting without seeing the cart, here are some ideas based on your description that might help:
First, allow the cart to dry completely. Sometimes, water can temporarily disrupt electrical connections, and the issue may resolve itself once everything is dry.
Second, check the fuses. While you hoped it was a fuse, it’s still worth double-checking. Look for any blown fuses related to the lighting system.
Third, inspect the wiring connections. Water may have caused a short or loose connection. Pay special attention to the area under the cup holder, which contains an 8-pin electrical connector that can cause issues when wet.
Fourth, examine the charge port. If the green LED on the charge port is lit, it may prevent the cart from running. Water can sometimes trigger this.
Fifth, check the headlight switch. A faulty switch can prevent lights from functioning properly.
Sixth, for the soundbar specifically, try adjusting the volume on both your phone and the cart. Sometimes, you may need to press the Bluetooth connection button twice to establish a connection.
Finally, if the lights are still not working, you may need to use a voltage reducer. Golf cart soundbars and lights often require a 48-12 volt voltage reducer to function properly.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s best to consult with a professional golf cart technician who can diagnose and fix the problem safely. Let us know if we can help further with your troubleshooting. Good luck!
I have the 2025 Evolution D5 Ranger 2+2. I have only had it since April 22, 2025(5 months) and I only use it to pick up my Grandbabies from the bus stop. The issue I am having is when I start driving, it will not go past 12 miles an hour. It has only about 160 miles on it. The dealership said they will charge me $60 an hour and that it will take over 30 days to get any parts. Can you help?
Hi Andrea,
Thank you for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the speed issue with your Evolution D5 Ranger 2+2. With only 160 miles and 5 months of use, this definitely shouldn’t be happening.
Before paying for dealership diagnostics, here are some things you can check yourself:
1. Quick Troubleshooting Steps:
> Speed Mode Setting – Check if your cart is stuck in “Turf Mode” or low-speed mode. The D5 Ranger has different speed settings that can be toggled through the display or controller settings.
> Battery Connections – Even with low mileage, check that all battery terminals are clean and tight. Corrosion or loose connections can limit power output and speed.
> Parking Brake – Ensure the parking brake is fully disengaged. Sometimes it can be partially engaged without being obvious, which limits speed as a safety feature.
> Tire Pressure – Low tire pressure can affect speed performance. Check all tires are inflated to the recommended PSI (usually listed on the tire sidewall).
> Error Codes – Check your display for any error codes or warning lights that might indicate what’s limiting the speed.
2. Warranty Consideration:
Since your cart is only 5 months old, this should be covered under Evolution’s warranty (typically 2 years for major components). I’d recommend contacting Evolution directly at their customer service line rather than just relying on the dealership. They may be able to expedite parts or authorize a different service center.
The 30+ day wait for parts does seem excessive for a current model year cart. Evolution should have better parts availability for 2025 models.
Please let us know what you find or if any of these steps help. We are always to help troubleshoot further!
On a 2014 Evolution golf cart, it has a difficult time moving. Often won’t move or is jerky. Batteries tested and are fine (48v). Lifted Rear and system performed fine (no jerks and speed responsive normal, forward and reverse). Could this be a voltage regulator or Solenoid issue? Any thoughts?
Hi Rafael,
We do not sell or repair Evolution golf carts. However, we are happy to share some thoughts on your issue.
The good news is you’ve done excellent diagnostic work! The fact that your cart runs smoothly when lifted but struggles under load is a very telling clue.
Most likely culprits:
1. Motor Brushes: This is the classic symptom. When there’s no load (wheels lifted), worn brushes maintain contact, but under load they lose proper contact with the commutator, causing jerky movement and loss of power.
2. Controller: May be struggling to deliver consistent power under load due to internal component wear.
3. Motor/Controller Connections: Check all connections for looseness or corrosion, especially where they handle higher current under load.
The voltage regulator and solenoid are less likely based on your symptoms since the regulator affects accessories, and solenoid issues are typically more all-or-nothing.
We suggest you start by inspecting the motor brushes. They’re a common wear item and your symptoms fit that pattern perfectly.
Best of luck!

r Ranger D5 model is showing error code 012 and the on the soc% screen it shows 5%. what does this mean?
Sandra,
The SOC% stands for “State of Charge.” At 5%, your battery pack is essentially depleted. Error code 012 on Evolution carts indicates low battery voltage, which makes sense given that reading.
First step is to plug it in and let it charge fully. If the charger won’t engage or the error persists after a full charge, you may have a weak or failed cell in the lithium battery pack that’s preventing it from holding charge properly.
A few things to check:
> Make sure your charger is functioning (indicator lights should show it’s actively charging)
> Let it charge uninterrupted for several hours
> If it reaches full charge and the error clears, you’re good to go
> If it won’t charge past a certain point or the error returns quickly, you’ll likely need the battery pack diagnosed
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
